Wendy Rosselli moved to South Africa from Zimbabwe in 2003 and now lives and paints in Kommetjie, a small seaside village on the outskirts of Cape Town. The influence of the new environment is clearly evident in her work, both in the subject matter and in the use of light, colour and space. Her interest in simplification of form and the canvas surface is also more evident. The palette has become softer, and the works regularly play with natural elements. Her medium remains predominantly oil paint on canvas and her subject matter continues to include trees, flowers and birds. She is also increasingly known for her graphite and charcoal drawings from life.
